Books for Baby

Create a library membership for your child under two years old and receive a free ‘Perfect Little Reader Kit’ from the “Books for Baby” program. The program is an initiative of the Association des bibliothèques publiques du Québec.

The kit includes: a “reading helps us grow” tote bag; a board book exclusive to the “Books for Baby” program; The Chantez avec votre enfant guide (in French only); The Lire avec votre enfant guide (in French only); A special 24-page edition of Naître et grandir, the #1 reference for all Quebec parents!

To receive the kit, visit the library and fill out a library membership form. Standard membership fees will apply, but children who are Baie-D’Urfé residents or attend daycares in Baie-D’Urfé receive free memberships. Please note that the child’s presence is not required to apply for the membership or receive the kit.

Activity Kits for Adults Living with Memory Loss

The library offers bilingual Activity Kits for Adults Living with Memory Loss, designed to provide gentle support, meaningful stimulation, and moments of connection for caregivers.

Each kit offers a unique combination of sensory objects, musical instruments, adapted logic games, light sports equipment, and activity sheets. Kits are available for 3 week loans and can be borrowed at the "New Arrivals" section or reserved online.

Inspired by an initiative from the Pointe-Claire Library, this project is supported by the Suburban Libraries of the Island of Montreal (BBIM), a dynamic network that collaborates to enrich services, foster innovation, and meet the needs of demerged city communities.

Little Free Libraries

In addition to our borrowable collection, two Little Free Libraries have been installed in Baie-D'Urfé. They are located at:

  • Picardy Park (corner of Victoria and Apple Hill) &

  • John-Weir Park (corner of Victoria and St Andrews)

The Little Free Libraries allow communities to share books. The principle at the core of this exchange is that Baie-D'Urfé residents can take a book from these libraries and/or leave a book for others to read.
